Pre-insulated underground pipe combines one or more carrier pipes, high-performance insulation and a protective outer casing within a single system. This helps minimise heat loss while protecting the internal pipework when installed below ground.

Uponor Ecoflex Pre-Insulated Pipe

Uponor Ecoflex is a flexible pre-insulated pipe system suitable for heating, cooling and water-distribution applications. The range includes products for heat pumps, remote boilers, biomass systems, building-to-building connections and local or district heating networks.

Uponor Ecoflex Thermo

Ecoflex Thermo is designed for transporting heating or cooling water. Single-pipe options use a single carrier pipe, while Thermo Twin places the flow and return pipes within a single insulated outer casing.

Uponor Ecoflex VIP

Uponor Ecoflex VIP uses vacuum insulation panel technology alongside PE-X foam to provide high thermal performance within a compact outer casing. It is available in options for heating networks and water distribution.

Uponor Ecoflex Aqua and Quattro

Ecoflex Aqua is designed for warm tap-water applications, with selected Twin versions incorporating a circulation pipe. Ecoflex Quattro combines heating flow and return with hot-water services in a single outer casing, helping to reduce the number of separate trenches and pipe runs required.

REHAU RAUVITHERM

RAUVITHERM is a highly flexible pre-insulated PE-Xa pipe system particularly suited to remote heat pumps, existing buildings and smaller heating networks. It is available in UNO and DUO configurations, with compatible compression fittings and system accessories.

REHAU RAUVIPEX

RAUVIPEX combines flexibility with high thermal performance for a broad range of heat-transfer applications. It can be used for individual building connections as well as larger communal and district heating networks.

REHAU RAUTHERMEX

RAUTHERMEX is designed for demanding heat-network and district-heating applications where strong thermal performance and higher heat-transfer capacities are required. UNO and DUO versions are available for different network layouts and pipe sizes.

UNO, DUO, Single or Twin Pipe?

The terminology varies between manufacturers, but the basic configurations are similar:

• Single or UNO pipe: Contains one carrier pipe within the insulated casing. Separate pipes are normally required for heating flow and return.
• Twin or DUO pipe: Contains both heating flow and return pipes within one outer casing, which can simplify trenching and installation.
• Multi-service pipe: Products such as Uponor Ecoflex Quattro combine heating and domestic water services within one insulated casing.

Choosing the Right Pre-Insulated Pipe

Before ordering, consider the heat source, required flow rate, pipe-run length, flow temperature, pressure, heat loss, number of services and the fittings required at each end.

Pipe diameter should be selected from a suitable system design rather than matching the connection size of the heat pump or boiler alone. An incorrectly sized pipe can increase pressure loss, reduce flow and affect the performance of the heating system.
