What is IMI Heatmiser neoFlo? Smart Radiator Control Explained

Smart heating controls make it easier to manage the temperature of individual rooms rather than heating an entire property to the same level. The IMI Heatmiser neoFlo brings this flexibility to radiator systems, providing precise room-by-room temperature control through a smart thermostatic radiator head.

It can be used independently, added to an existing IMI Heatmiser neo system or combined with the neoHub G3 and RF Switch to create a more complete smart heating solution.

What is IMI Heatmiser neoFlo?

IMI Heatmiser neoFlo is a smart radiator thermostat that controls the flow of warm water through an individual radiator valve.

Instead of relying on a single central thermostat to determine the temperature throughout the property, neoFlo allows each radiator to be controlled according to the requirements of the room. Bedrooms, living areas and less frequently used spaces can therefore operate at different temperatures and follow different schedules.

This can provide greater comfort while helping to reduce unnecessary heating in rooms that are not being used.

What are the main neoFlo features?

neoFlo combines precise digital temperature control with several useful heating and energy-management features:

  • - Quiet and precise operation
  • - Manual room-temperature adjustment
  • - Simple time scheduling
  • - Open-window detection
  • - 30-minute boost mode
  • - Frost protection
  • - Automatic valve protection
  • - Low-battery indication
  • - Battery life of up to six years
  • - App control when connected to the neoHub G3

- Open-window detection identifies a sudden drop in room temperature and temporarily closes the radiator valve, helping to prevent heat from being wasted.

Valve protection also operates the valve periodically to help prevent limescale build-up during extended periods of inactivity.

Can neoFlo be used without a neoHub?

Yes. A neoFlo can be fitted to a compatible radiator valve and used independently for local temperature control.

Without a hub, users can adjust the temperature directly from the thermostat and use functions including simple scheduling, boost mode, open-window detection and frost protection.

This makes neoFlo suitable for upgrading a single room or starting with a small system that can be expanded later.

What does the neoHub G3 add?

Connecting neoFlo to the Heatmiser neoHub G3 enables control through the neoApp.

Users can then adjust radiator temperatures remotely, create more advanced heating schedules and access additional features such as:

  • - Holiday mode
  • - Temperature hold
  • - Pre-heat
  • - Adjustable open-window detection
  • - Temperature offset
  • - Automatic software updates
  • - Compatible smart-home integrations

Please note: The neoHub G3 is required for neoFlo app control. Earlier neoHub Gen 1 and Gen 2 models do not provide app-based neoFlo compatibility.

When is an RF Switch required?

A neoFlo controls the radiator valve itself, but it does not automatically mean that the boiler or heat source will start operating.

An RF Switch is required when the neoFlo system needs to call for heat. It receives the demand from the system and can trigger the boiler, zone valve or another heat-source output when a room requires heating.

In Summary:

  • neoFlo controls the individual radiator.
  • neoHub G3 provides app control and smart features.
  • RF Switch enables the system to request heat.

Please note: Where an RF Switch needs to be wired to a boiler or another heat source, installation should be completed by a suitably qualified installer.

Can neoFlo work with underfloor heating?

Yes. neoFlo is particularly useful in properties that combine underfloor heating and radiators.

For example, a property may have underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators in upstairs bedrooms. If the underfloor heating already uses compatible IMI Heatmiser neo controls, neoFlo can extend smart room control to the radiator-heated areas.

This allows users to manage more of their heating through the wider IMI Heatmiser neo ecosystem instead of using separate control platforms for different parts of the property.

Will neoFlo fit any radiator?

neoFlo has an M30 x 1.5 connection, which fits many modern thermostatic radiator valves.

Additional adapters may be required for some older or less common valve types, so the existing radiator valve should always be checked before ordering.

Underfloor Store customers should also remember that neoFlo replaces the thermostatic radiator head rather than the complete radiator valve.

Who is neoFlo suitable for?

Heatmiser neoFlo is a flexible option for:

  • - Customers wanting independent control of individual radiators
  • - Properties with rooms used at different times
  • - Existing Heatmiser neo users adding radiator control
  • - Homes combining radiators and underfloor heating
  • - Customers wanting to build a smart heating system gradually
  • - Installers looking for a flexible radiator-control solution

- A single neoFlo can be used as a straightforward room upgrade, while multiple units can create a more comprehensive zoned radiator system.
